Privacy Policy

The short version

We don't run analytics. We don't use advertising or tracking pixels. We don't set any cookies of our own, we don't ask you to make an account, and we have never sold or shared anyone's information.

Two parts of the site load content from Google and Instagram. Those companies do set their own cookies, and we explain that below rather than pretend otherwise.

What we don't do

Information recorded automatically

Our site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel's servers keep short-term access logs: the IP address a request came from, the browser and device type, the page requested, and the date and time.

These logs exist to keep the site running and to protect it from abuse. We don't use them to identify individual visitors, we don't build profiles from them, and we don't combine them with anything else. Vercel processes them on our behalf as our hosting provider.

Content we load from other companies

Our contact page embeds a Google Map so you can find us. When that page loads, your browser contacts Google directly. Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, whether or not you click or drag the map. This is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours.

Where we show posts from our Instagram account, your browser loads that content from Meta, which may likewise set cookies and may use them to recognise you across other sites. That is governed by Meta's privacy policy.

We include these because a map and our photographs are genuinely useful to people trying to find us and see the food. If you'd rather not load them, most browsers can block third-party cookies, and the rest of the site works normally without them.

Two other companies handle information for us, but only once you choose to use them rather than merely by loading a page: FormSubmit, which delivers the enquiry form to our inbox, and Square, which runs ordering and payment. Both are described in the section on the enquiry form below.

Cookies

We don't set any cookies of our own. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie, and nothing stored in your browser to remember you between visits.

The Google Map on our contact page, and Instagram content where we show it, do set cookies belonging to those companies, as described above. If you'd rather they didn't, blocking third-party cookies in your browser settings stops them and leaves the rest of the site working normally.

This section exists because people look for the word. There is nothing here beyond what the previous section already explains.

The enquiry form, and ordering

The catering and enquiry form on our contact page sends us whatever you put into it — your name, email address, phone number and your message. We use it to reply to you and to handle what you asked about. Nothing more.

That form is delivered by a service called FormSubmit, which receives the submission and passes it on to us as an email. It reaches their servers before it reaches our inbox, which is worth knowing if you would rather not use it; our phone number and email address are on the same page and get to us just as well.

Ordering ahead works differently. The Order Ahead button takes you to our menu on Square, the company that runs our ordering and payment. Anything you enter there — including card details — goes to Square, not to us, and is governed by their privacy policy. We never see or store your card number.

We keep an enquiry while we are dealing with it and then for as long as ordinary business records require, which for a restaurant is typically a year or two for accounting. It is not kept indefinitely. It is not added to a marketing list, used for advertising, or sold — we do not do marketing by email or text at all.

If you email or call us

If you write to us or leave a message, we keep your message the way any restaurant keeps customer correspondence — so we can reply and follow up. We don't add you to any list because you got in touch.

Links to other sites

We link out to social media, review sites, mapping services, and press coverage written about us. Those links don't do anything until you click them, but once you do, the site you land on is governed by its own privacy policy rather than this one.

Do Not Track and privacy signals

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal to every site you visit. We honour those signals, though in practice there is nothing for them to switch off here: we don't track visitors, we don't build profiles, and we don't sell or share personal information, so there is no opt-out for you to exercise.

Keeping information secure

This site is served over an encrypted connection. Because we don't run analytics, set cookies, or keep a database of visitors, there is very little about you for us to hold and therefore very little for us to lose.

When the order form is connected, the details you send will go to the ordering service we use to handle them rather than being stored on this website. No method of transmitting information over the internet is perfectly secure, and we won't claim otherwise.

Children

This site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, please email us and we'll delete it.

California residents

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we do not use personal information for targeted advertising. We don't discriminate against anyone for exercising their privacy rights.

California's “Shine the Light” law lets you ask whether a business shares personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing. We don't, and never have.

If the restaurant changes hands

If Bocce is ever sold or merged, any information we hold would transfer with the business to the new owners, who would be bound by this policy until they published their own. We would post a notice here before that happened.

Changes to this policy

If we change how any of this works, we'll update this page and change the effective date at the top. We'd rather revise this page than let it drift out of date.
